Family business NBC celebrates reopening
Building an event venue from the ground up after a major fire and doing so in just a year and a half? It seems like an impossible task. However, not for a family business where drive is in the DNA. At the helm of this company is Justin van Hooijdonk. The entrepreneurial director-owner was already working with his team on new plans the day after the major fire in September 2022. The result is a super-sustainable and entirely new NBC Congress Center. On Friday, March 1st, NBC welcomed its first guests, and on March 8th, the festive opening took place.
The event venue in Nieuwegein has been facilitating business events of all kinds and sizes since 1992. From a congress to a large corporate party and from a quarterly meeting to an award show. The services remain unchanged after the reopening. Clients and guests can still count on the same hospitality but in a completely renovated and sustainably built venue. To make the location future-proof, important sustainability choices were made during construction. A sustainable climate control system was designed, saving 70 percent of energy needs. Additionally, sustainable materials were used, and many materials were reused to extend their lifespan. NBC is currently in the GPR certification process, scoring an impressive 8 with their sustainability ambitions and choices!
Innovative Outlook on the Future
Of course, innovative technology has also been a focus. For instance, there are two event areas with impressive projection capabilities, ranging from an 81-square-meter decor to a 45-meter-wide 3D projection. The 22 different breakout rooms are equipped with extensive presentation setups, and the hospitality area features large LED pillars, giving event branding a new meaning. It’s clear that the NBC team has worked extremely hard and has a clear vision for the future.
After a year and a half of hard work, it was finally time for the festive opening. Long-time clients were the first to experience the new venue. The official opening was, of course, conducted by the family themselves. Mrs. van Hooijdonk, the founder of the family business, cut the ribbon with her grandchildren.
